Yael Naim
Yael Naim ( born February 6, 1978 in Paris, French spelling also Yael Naim Yael Naim or; Hebrew יעל נעים = ya na ʿ ʿ el IM) is a Franco- Israeli singer and songwriter.
Biography
Naim was born as the daughter of Tunisian- Jewish parents in France. At the age of four, she moved with her family in the Israeli city of Ramat haScharon near Tel Aviv, where she grew up. During the first years of school, she began to be interested in the piano and learned to play the piano. At twelve, she discovered the music of the Beatles for themselves and began to compose his own songs. Later, she also learned guitar.
With 18 Yael Naim met in a Tel Aviv Jazz Club musicians Wynton Marsalis and performed several times together with them. During their two-year military service in the Israeli army, she was a soloist in the orchestra of the Air Force. She then toured as a musician with the band The Anti Collision by Israel.
When she took part in a charity concert in Paris in 2000, she was discovered by the record company EMI and contracted. Their debut album, In A Man's Womb appeared a year later. But even though it with a role in the successful musical Les dix commandements ( The Ten Commandments ) by Pascal Obispo, she played two and a half years, additional gained fame among the French public, the album flopped and tossed it back once.
From 2004 she sang in another musical, Spartacus le gladiateur ( Spartacus the Gladiator ). Furthermore began her collaboration with percussionist and producer David Donatien. Over two years, she developed her style on and working on her second, after her self- named album, released in Tôt ou tard / Warner 2007. Then she sings both in English and in Hebrew and French. This time got Naim praise from music critics, and especially their version of the Britney Spears song Toxic attracted attention. The album debuted in October at No. 11 of the French charts and in Belgium and Switzerland, she came into the album charts.
Beginning of 2008 was one of the album songs, New Soul, use in advertising for a new notebook model from Apple, the song, the Apple MacBook Air has been so popular through the frequent repetition in the TV commercials that early February straight into the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and got in the world in many other charts.
