Yahya Ould Ahmed El Waghef

Yahya Ould Ahmed El Waghef (* 1960 in Moudjeria; alternative spelling El Waghf or El- Ouakef; Arab يحيى ولد أحمد الواقف, DMG Yahya walad Aḥmad al - Waqif ) is a Mauritanian politician ( ADIL ). He was on 6 May 2008 until he was deposed by a coup on August 6, 2008 Prime Minister of Mauritania.

Life and career

El Waghef was born in 1960 in Moudjeria in the region Tagant. He completed his training in Mauritania and Morocco. In 1986 he became a professor at the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Nouakchott. 1987-1989 he was the Commissioner for Food Security in charge of Statistics and Programming, 1989-1999, he was Chargé de Programme at the World Food Programme office. From January to August 2003, he was Director General of the Mauritanian gas company SOMAGAZ, from September 2003 to April 2004 Director of Banc - d'Arguin National Park. From October 2004 to April 2005 he was Secretary General of the Ministry of Hydraulics and Energy, then to September 2006, Director General of Air Mauritanie. As of February 2007, he was advisor to the Minister of Finance.

He's since January 5, 2008 President of the ADIL and since May 6, 2008 Prime Minister of Mauritania and the successor of the same day resigned zeins Ould Zeidane.

On August 6, 2008 El Waghef was, as President Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdallahi, arrested during a military coup. Behind the coup should be a general who had been dismissed by the President.
