Yakov Estrin

Yakov Borisovich Estrin (Russian Яков Борисович Эстрин, scientific transliteration Yakov Estrin Borisovic; * April 21, 1923 in Moscow, † February 2, 1987 ) was a Soviet chess grandmaster, and the seventh correspondence chess world champion.

A lawyer by profession, he was primarily involved with chess, which he learned as a seven year old. After studying law in Moscow, he published a series schachjournalistischer and chess theoretical writings (over 200 items), and thus laid the foundation for his later Chair of chess at the Sports University in Moscow. He was awarded the title " Honored coach of the RSFSR ".

In OTB chess, he scored good results in 1946, he shared in the championships of the RSFSR the 2nd - 4th Place. In 1949 he received the title of Master of Sports. He took 13 times in the final contest of the Moscow Championships. His best historical Elo rating was 2595th This he achieved in June 1974.
