Yakovlev Pchela

The Yakovlev Ptschela ( German: Bee English: Pchela, Russian: Пчела ) is an unmanned aircraft of the Russian Yakovlev design office.

History

Development began on 28 June 1982, decision of the relevant ministry. Between 1982 and 1991, two versions were developed. The first version was the 60C/1M, for the first time flew the mid-1980s, but never reached deployment status, the second was the more developed 61/1T (later to use version). The system was deployed in mid -1990s.

Technology

The Ptschela is used for battlefield surveillance and target assignment and is equipped with a video camera which transmits its images wirelessly to a base station. The start is the drone of a starting track on a converted truck type GAZ- 66 or a converted chain type vehicle BTR -D with the help of two Start strapons. In addition, there are vehicles for technical assistance. The entire associated technique including vehicles and the drone is called Stroi - P complex. For export, a slightly modified system ( Schmel-1/Shmel-1 for the drone ) offered under the name of malachite. The flight of propeller -equipped with a jacketed and partially made ​​of composite materials drone takes place at an altitude of 100 to a maximum of 3000 m. The flight takes place either automatically at a predetermined price or by manual remote control. The landing is done with the help of a parachute and airbags or shock absorbing skids.
