Yalan Dunya is a Turkish comedy series of Gülse Birsel, which is broadcast on Channel D since 13 January 2012.

The director is Jale Atabey and the screenwriter is Gülse Birsel. The music is by Nile Karaibrahimgil. Pamela Anderson, Lorenzo Lamas, and other stars of the Turkish television had guest appearances.

Action

The series takes place in the Cihangir neighborhood of Istanbul's Beyoğlu, a distinguished neighborhood with lots of bohemians and newly rich families. It is about the life of the local actors and actresses. One of the actresses moved with her colleague and her brother in a residential community. They live right next to a conservative family and interact with them on the shared terrace of her apartment building.

The television series makes fun of the typical Turkish soap operas and focuses on honor killings, stereotypes ( the Turkish family, business acumen, the emotionality of the Turkish mainstream culture) and exaggerated descriptions of the Turkish neighborhood life.

After two seasons and a transmission time laid from Friday to Monday, the series ends for the moment in the New Year episode of 2012. A new broadcast date or sender location is sought (as of January 2013).

Awards

The series was awarded at the Antalya Televizyon ÖDÜLLERI, 2012, the Antalya Television Awards in five categories: Best Comedy Series, Best Male Comedy Actor, Best Female Comedy Supporting Role, Best Male Comedy Supporting Actor and Best Comedy Director.
