Yalla (band)

Yalla (Cyrillic and Russian Ялла Jalla ) is the name of an Uzbek folk-rock band.

Yalla was - inspired by the Beatles - founded in 1970 from a group of lay at the Theatre Institute of Tashkent and was in the 1970s and 80s, one of the most popular bands in the Soviet Union. Yalla used in their works several oriental motifs, both the Russian and Uzbek language as well as traditional and modern instruments.

The group met both in the various Union republics as well as in other countries such as India and Pakistan. Yalla also took part in the 10th World Festival of Youth and Students in 1973 in East Berlin. Yalla was the label Melodiya under contract. The DDR record label Amiga in 1973 published two Uzbek sung the title referred to as "Ensemble Jalla " band on a compilation and 1975, a single with the songs sung in German What a shame and this will be a day under the name of " Yalla ". With appearances abroad Yalla usually sang a song in the local language.

By 1979, almost the entire cast joined the band, only Zakirov remained part Yallas. In the 1980s, Yalla came several times in the rating of the Soviet "Song of the Year". An offshoot of the band, Retro Yalla, founded in 2002.
