The Yamaha SZR 660 is a motorcycle model of the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha, which was introduced in 1995 and built in 1996 and 1997 by the Italian Yamaha importer Belgarda. The year of production in 1995 was delivered in blue and orange, 1997, changed the colors to red and black ( 1997).

The bike was not 660 offered under the actual name of the manufacturer Belgarda but as " official" Yamaha SZR, although almost all vehicle parts come from European production:

  • Rims and Brembo brake system
  • Silencer of Lafranconi
  • Fork of Paioli
  • Tank from Acerbis
  • Strut by Sachs - Boge
  • Instruments of CEV

The main frame is made of aluminum slightly modified and is originally from a Yamaha TZR 250 3MA. In addition, some parts such as the main frame, but two joists to the motor mount, and the banana swing arm and the brake system are identical with those of the Yamaha TZR125RR which was also built by the Italian importer Belgarda.

The SDR continues with the proven 660 - cc engine, the Yamaha XTZ 660, but with a different tuned carburetor. The engine output is 48 horsepower, torque 54 Nm, the empty weight of 159 kg.

The SDR is the last road super sports car with a single cylinder engine from series production of the four major manufacturers from Japan; they do shines through her good suspension and the resulting, easy handling. The fun is only limited by a faltering front brake, one positioned above the exhaust (right) and a fitting end oil pipe bolt (left). The technical shortcomings are the vulnerable two-stage gasifier Teikei and the electrics.

There about 2000 SDRs were built, are currently still allowed 656 in Germany.
