Yamashina-ku, Kyoto
Yamashina -ku (Japanese山 科 区) is one of eleven districts ( ku ) of Kyoto, Japan.
History
Yamashina was originally an independent town ( chō ) in the district of Uji until she temporarily was incorporated on April 1, 1931 Kyoto, and part of the district Higashiyama -ku. On October 1, 1976 Yamashina was collected into a separate municipality.
Traffic
The Yamashina Station is just one stop from Kyoto station located on the Tōkaidō Main Line ( Biwako Line).
Attractions
In Yamashina -ku are the graves of Emperor Tenji, the oldest Imperial grave in Kyoto, and of Sakanoue no Tamuramaro, a general of the Heian period, the Ōishi shrine and several significant temples. The district is the Biwaseekanal runs.
