Yamazaki Distillery

Yamazaki (Japanese山崎 蒸 溜 所, Yamazaki Jōryūsho ) is a whiskey distillery Suntory in Osaka.

There the same Single Malt Whisky Yamazaki whiskey is made. The main reason for the choice of location of the company headquarters was the outstanding water quality of the area that is called minaseno. History

The Yamazaki distillery was opened in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii (鸟 井 信 治郎) as the first malt whiskey distillery in Japan. The company's founder and chairman of Kotobukiya (the predecessor company of Suntory ) wanted to produce a serious whiskey and therefore constituted Taketsuru Masataka (竹 鹤 政 孝) that he in 1924 appointed Managing Director of Yamazakibrennerei. This was previously traveled to Scotland to train as the production of Scotch whiskey on site. Under Taketsuru the production of the first whiskey was completed in 1929, which was sold as shirofuda (白 札, Eng. White label ). Because of differences between Torii and Taketsuru, left Taketsuru 1934 from the company and established in the NIKKA WHISKY in Hokkaido later.
