Yan Han (figure skater)

Yan Han (Chinese闫 涵, Pinyin Yan Hán; born 6 March 1996 in Harbin, China) is a Chinese figure skater who starts in a single run. His biggest successes are the gold medal at the Winter Youth Olympic Games 2012 in Innsbruck and two Chinese league titles in the seniors.

Yan Han began in 2001 at the age of five years, with the figure skating. He trained most of the time in his hometown in Harbin Training Centre, but also completed training sessions in Beijing. The first time he drew attention to himself, which were aligned in September, 2009 in Beijing at the Chinese Championships Seniors 2010. By the best possible rating in the short program and free skating, he won with 194.68 points for his first title. A short time later, he had his first start at an ISU Junior Grand Prix. At the event in Istanbul, he was able to enter right away victory.

In the 2010/2011 season, he started at the Junior Grand Prix events in Graz and Ostrava. He won both competitions and enabled it to qualify for the Junior Grand Prix Final in Beijing. There he finished second behind the Americans Richard Dornbush. A short time later, he successfully defended his title at the Chinese Championships in 2011. At the end of the season he still competed in the Junior World Championships in Gangneung. With 187.49 points, it was enough there only to sixth place. New Junior World Champion became the Canadians Andrei Rogozine, whom he had beaten in the Junior Grand Prix Final.

The 2011/2012 season began for Yan Han with a victory at the Asian Figure Skating Trophy. The Chinese Championships 2012 in Changchun, it was enough with 197.47 points this time only to third place behind Song Nan and Wu Jialiang. Then he started again at two Junior Grand Prix events in Innsbruck and Milan, which he could both win. In Milan, he improved his personal best to 219.37 while points. In the Junior Grand Prix Final in Quebec City, it was enough just to re- rank two, this time behind the U.S. American Jason Brown. In January he joined the Winter edition of the Chinese National Games in the seniors for the second time in the season against national competition at. Song Nan also won this encounter, Yan Han, it was enough but to second place. Shortly afterwards, at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck he succeeded his biggest success. By far, he won the gold medal ahead of Japanese Shoma Uno and the Russians Feodosy Yefremenkov. A little later, Yan Han was in Minsk, the first Chinese ever junior world champion. He cited the American Joshua Farris and Jason Brown to the places.
