Yan Mountains

The Yan Mountains or Yanshan (Chinese燕山) is a mountain range in Hebei province in northern China. The mountain range stretches between the river Chaobei the west and the Shanhai Pass in the east. It consists of limestone, granite and basalt. The mountain peaks reach an altitude from 400 to 1000 m. The highest peak is Mount Wuling with 2,116 m in the northern district of Xinglong. The mountain range contains several narrow passes as the Gubei Pass, the Xifeng Pass and the Leng Pass. The most visited part of the Great Wall, the so-called Bādálǐng (八达岭/八达岭) northwest of Beijing, is located in the Yan Mountains.
