Yan Pei-Ming

Yan Pei -Ming ( born December 1, 1960 in Shanghai) is a Chinese painter.

Life and work

Yan Pei- Ming's works are known especially for the most unusually large size, and the limited color palette to a few colors and yet preserved plasticity thanks to a virtuoso, impasto paint application. Yan went in 1980 to France and studied in Dijon at the École des Arts de Dijon - Beux. Since 1982 he lives and works in Dijon.

Again and again he manages to politicize his portraits. First become known for his images of Mao, he worked on the amalgamation of myth, politics and autobiography with pictures of Buddha and Bruce Lee and Autoportäts.
