Yandex.Browser

Yandex.Browser is developed by the Russian company Yandex web browser, which was first released in October 2012. It is available in versions for Windows, Mac OS X, Android and iOS. A Linux version is in the works. Yandex.Browser builds on the HTML rendering engine to WebKit and used as the default search engine Yandex.

According to the agency LiveInternet.ru he now has a market share of 6.9% in the Russian-speaking Internet.

History

Yandex is a Russian Internet company and in the Internet search market leader in Russia and some other countries of the former Soviet Union. The Yandex.Browser was published in October 2012, after the Mozilla Foundation had decided in mid-2012 to deliver Firefox in Russia in the future with Google as the default search engine. In order to keep its market share stable, Yandex has therefore developed its own browser. In June 2013, a mobile version of the browser for smartphones and tablets hit the market.
