Yang Yang (Badminton)

Yang Yang (Chinese杨阳; born December 9, 1963 in Nanjing ) is a former badminton player from the People's Republic of China.

Career

Yang Yang was one of the most successful badminton player of the 1980s. He was 1987 and 1989 world champion in men's singles. In 1985, he had already won bronze in the same discipline. With the Chinese men's team, he won the World Team Championship title in 1986, 1988 and 1990. At the Summer Olympics in 1988, where badminton was as Vorführsportart in the program, he won gold. Olympics in 1992, where badminton was officially in the program for the first time, came too late for one of the greatest badminton player of all time. Yang Yang was trained, among others, by Tang Xuehua.

Yang Yang runs a sporting goods company today.
