Yangling District

The municipality Yangling (杨陵 区; Pinyin: Yánglíng Qū ) is a municipality of the prefecture-level city Xianyang of Shaanxi Province in the People's Republic of China. It has an area of 94 square kilometers and counts 155,000 inhabitants (2008 ). It is located about 80 km west from the provincial capital Xi'an.

History

Yangling is considered the cradle of Chinese agriculture. This should have been from the Chinese mythology, born 4,000 years before the first agricultural officials, the legendary Feldbaugott Hou Ji, who gave the farmers of the area, the methods of agriculture.

Yangling received its name as a tomb of the Emperor Yang Jian (杨坚), who founded the Sui Dynasty family. Not to be confused with the grave Han Yangling Yangling (汉阳陵) of the Han emperor Jingdi, located just in the administrative region of Xianyang.

Since 1979, Yang Ling was assigned to different administrative areas until finally in 1983 to a municipality of Xianyang was. In 1997, it was started to build in Yangling Agricultural High -tech, the industrial demonstration zone with the objective of promotion of agricultural science and technology. Notwithstanding the territorial affiliation with the city Xianyang thus Yangling was directly subordinated to the provincial government.

Economy

The economic priorities lie in agriculture, plant and animal breeding, forestry, agricultural engineering, food processing, biomedicine and pharmacy. In connection with the Agricultural High -tech Industrial Demonstration Zone more industrial parks to be built. The largest, annual agricultural fair in China has established itself in Yangling. It took place for the 16th time in November 2009.

Education

In Yangling is the main campus of the North -West University of Agriculture and Forestry Wugong / Yang Ling ( NWAFU ), which was founded in 1934 by Yang Hucheng (杨虎城), General of the North-Western Army, in the reign of the Kuomintang.
