Yangqin

The Yangqin (Chinese扬琴or洋琴, Yangqin ), a trapezoidal dulcimer, a Chinese stringed instrument from the Arab- Persian world, the opposite end of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) is coming to China.

In ancient Chinese musical instrument categorization of Bayin ( " Night Sounds" ), it belongs to the category of silk and there to the plucked instruments. The different number of strings are struck with mallets thin. The Yangqin today has approximately 13 to 18 strings rows. Even the name suggests their foreign origin. Today it is an important part of ensemble music, but since the beginning of the 20th century appears as a solo instrument.
