Province

The city of Yanji (延吉 市; Pinyin:. Yanji Shì; korean 연길 Yongil ) is a county-level city in the Yanbian Autonomous Prefecture of Koreans in Jilin Province of the People's Republic of China. In 1999, she counted 386 008 inhabitants.

1928 founded the Missionary Benedictines monastery in Yanji, which was soon collected on the basis of his successful missionary activity to the abbey, but was canceled because of the Chinese revolution. Some monks escaped and founded the monastery Waegwan.

By 2016 a rail project will be built in Yanji, which high-speed trains from China to connect to North Korea.

Education

In Yanji is the Yanbian Autonomous Prefecture of Yanbian University, whose mission is to enable the Korean speaking minority higher education. In addition, there are in Yanji nor the technically oriented University of Science and Technology Yanbian.
