Yann Danis

Yann Danis ( born June 21, 1981 in Saint- Jérôme, Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who stands in July 2013 in the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Yann Danis began his career as a teenager in unterklassigen Junior leagues in his native province of Quebec as well as in the province of Ontario, where he received several awards for its good performance. After his graduation he was offered in 2000 by six universities hockey scholarships and he opted for the Brown University in Rhode Iceland.

In the college team, the Brown Bears, he established himself in his second year as a goalkeeper, and was voted by the Regional University League ECAC Hockey in the following two seasons in the Second All-Star Team. The culmination of his studies he experienced in the 2003/04 season, when he received the awards for best player and best goalkeeper in the ECAC and was also elected by the national college league in the NCAA East First All-American Team. Added to this was the nomination for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award.

In spring 2004, Danis graduated with a degree in private and state economy, and signed his first professional contract shortly afterwards at the Montreal Canadiens of the NHL. For their farm team, the Hamilton Bulldogs, he came to the end of the season twice in the AHL for use, both games won and stayed once without conceding a goal.

In the season 2004/ 05 he was a regular goalkeeper of the Bulldogs and had a good performance in his first season. The following year he came to his first stakes in the NHL, as he guarded the gate of the Canadiens in six games. But he got the most use of time still in the AHL with Hamilton, where he as well as the entire team showed weaknesses and in the end failed to qualify for the playoffs. Nevertheless, he was invited in February 2006 AHL All- Star Classic and received the awards along with Wade Flaherty as MVP of the All-Star game.

2006/ 07 Danis played as goalkeeper together with Jaroslav Halák in goal for the Bulldogs and they qualified again for the final round. Danis was shown in only average performance during the season and was just before the playoffs replaced by 19 -year-old Carey Price, who led the team to win the Calder Cup.

The following season was another step backwards. Although Danis received the most ice age all goalkeepers in Hamilton, but could not prevail against the internal team competition. In addition, the team did not reach the playoff ranks. As a result, his contract was not renewed.

In July 2008, he undertook the New York Islanders at the beginning of the season 2008/ 09 to their farm team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, sent him. There he was able to regain his old form and as the goalkeeper of the Islanders, Rick DiPietro injured again, Danis was appointed to the NHL squad.

After he was in 2009/10 Back-Up by Martin Brodeur with the New Jersey Devils in the season, he was committed in July 2010 of Amur Khabarovsk of the Kontinental Hockey League.

On July 4, 2011 Danis signed a contract for one year with the Edmonton Oilers. For the 2013/14 season he has been endowed by the Philadelphia Flyers with a two-way contract.
