Yann Queffélec

Yann Queffélec ( born September 4, 1949 in Paris, France ) is a French author.

Queffélec was born as the son of the writer Henri Queffélec and brother of the pianist Anne Queffélec. In his early days he worked for a local weekly newspaper as a literary critic. There he worked from a biography to Béla Bartók, which was published in 1981.

In 1983 Queffélec published his first novel, Le Charme noir. Two years later, the second novel, Les Noces barbares, which was filmed in 1987 under the name " Barbaric Wedding" by the Belgian director Marion Hansel. For the novel Queffélec was awarded the French Prix Goncourt.

Queffélec was married to the pianist Brigitte Closer and has a daughter with her.
