Yannick Jadot

Yannick Jadot ( born July 27, 1967 in Clacy -et- Thierret, Aisne ) is a French environmental activist and member since 2009 of the European Parliament for the Green Choice Alliance Europe Écologie.

Life

Jadot studied economics at the University of Paris- Dauphine. He lived for several years in Burkina Faso and in Bangladesh, where he worked in development aid and environmental protection. Jadot is a member of Solagral, a non-governmental organization that is specialized to pursue international conferences on trade, environment, agriculture and other questions and to assist developing countries. In addition Jadot headed from 2002 to 2008 various campaigns for Greenpeace France and was one of the founders and the spokesman of Alliance pour le planète, an umbrella organization for various environmental organizations.

Political career

Beginning of September 2008 announced Jadot, that he would leave Greenpeace in order to join the newly formed green coalition Écologie Europe, with the French Greens competed under the direction of Daniel Cohn- Bendit, of the European elections in France in 2009. Jadot was the top candidate in the constituency Ouest and won a seat in the European Parliament. Here he is Vice Chair of the Committee on International Trade.
