Yaquina Bay ( Yaquina River)

The Yaquina Bay Bridge is an arch bridge that connects the coastal road in the course of U.S. Highway 101 on the Yaquina Bay. It is located south of the city of Newport in Oregon on the west coast of the United States. In the north, bordering the bridge at the Yaquina Bay State Park with the famous Lighthouse Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, which can be seen from the bridge.

Description

Work on the bridge began on May 3, 1933 by temporary bridges were built on both banks. Most of the building materials were transported by rail to the coast. On September 6, 1936, designed by Conde McCullough Bridge was opened, the inauguration took place on Labor Day, a day earlier instead. Construction

The bridge has two lanes and pedestrian paths on both sides. The main arch of steel has a span of 107 meters and a height of 82 meters above the water. The reinforced concrete piers of the main arc stand in a water depth of about 18 meters.
