The Yate is a 2187 meter high volcano in the Andes in southern Chile. It is located in the 48,232 -acre National Park Hornopiren the Hualaihué region and belongs to Liquiñe - Ofqui Trench.

Landslide 1965

On February 19, 1965, resolved six to ten million cubic meters of rock and ice and slid 7.5 km down into the Lake Caprera. At the western end of the lake a tsunami wave of more than 25 meters, which destroyed a settlement and 27 death toll was born. Researchers assume that such an event repeated about every hundred years and that global warming will magnify this.
