Yazid II.

Yazid II, Arabic يزيد بن عبد الملك, DMG Yazīd ibn ʿ Abd al -Malik, (* 687, † 26 January 724) was the ninth Caliph of the Umayyad ( 720-724 ).

Yazid II ibn Abd al -Malik became a brother of al - Walid I, the succession of Umar Ibn Abd al - Aziz ( 717-720 ) to. He was assertive weak ruler, which largely left to the governors in the provinces, the government of the Caliphate.

Under him it came in the Caucasus 722 again to fights with the Khazars. Although Arab troops to the steppes north of the Caucasus were advancing, it came between the two parties to reach a decision. This war was to bind the forces of the Umayyad on the Caucasian border until 737.
