Yeghegnadzor

Jeghegnadsor ( Armenian: Եղեգնաձոր ) is the capital of the Armenian province Wajoz Dzor. It is for the regional wine that is produced in this area is known.

Location

Jeghegnadsor lies in the valley of the Arpa at an altitude of 1184 meters, about two kilometers north of the river on the only highway (M2 ), which connects Yerevan to the south of the country. Four kilometers west of the city in the direction of Areni branches off the M10 to the north and leads to Schatin over over the 2410 meter high Selim Pass to the south shore of Lake Sevan. A road connects the city center with the higher northern suburb Gladzor and with the village, five kilometers away nibble. The road to the former convent in the mountains Spitakavor branches off northward. Five kilometers east of Verna 's the road reaches the former monastery Tanahat, which is probably identical with the medieval Gladzor University. The nearest small town Wajk on the M2 to the southeast is 14 kilometers away.
