Yehude Simon

Yehude Munaro Simon ( born July 18, 1947) is a Peruvian politician. From October 2008 to July 2009 he was Prime Minister of Peru.

Life

Simon was serving in the 1990s, an eight and a half year prison sentence for alleged contacts with left-wing rebels of the Movimiento Revolucionario Túpac Amaru. The charges against Simon was completed in 1992 under the government of Alberto Fujimori. The interim president Valentín Paniagua finally pardoned him in 2000.

Simon was a popular left-wing governor of the northern province of Lambayeque, when he was appointed by President Alan García to the Prime Minister in October 2008.
