Yeimer López

Yeimer López García ( born August 28, 1982 in Buey Arriba, Granma Province) is a Cuban sprinter and middle-distance runner.

In 2003, he won the 400m bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo. About the same distance, he reached the semi-finals at the World Athletics Championships 2003 in Paris / Saint- Denis and at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

He was about 800 m Central America and Caribbean champion in 2005, but resigned at the World Championships in Helsinki in the flow. In 2006 he won at the Central American and Caribbean Games gold in the 400m.

Thereafter, he focused on the final 800 meters and celebrated its greatest success with the victory at the Pan American Games in 2007 in Rio de Janeiro. At the World Championships in Osaka, however, he failed in the flow.

In 2008, he was sixth at the Olympic Games in Beijing, 2009 Central American and Caribbean champion and tenth at the World Championships in Berlin, and in 2010 he won the title at the Ibero-American Championships.

Yeimer López is 1.85m and weighs 78 kg. He is trained by Amarilis Hernandez, who had cared for Norberto Téllez.
