Yellow Crane Tower

The Yellow Crane Tower (Chinese黄鹤楼/黄鹤楼, Pinyin Huang He Lou, Yellow Crane Tower ' ) is an art-historically significant building in Wǔhàn, Hubei province, People's Republic of China.

Location

The pagoda is located on the Sheshan hill in the district of Wuchang and so close to the Yangtze River. It rises well above the city, which is why you have a wonderful view from the Yellow Crane Tower on all parts of the city. The pagoda was built on the so-called " Yellow Crane Rock", hence its name.

History

The plant was built in the year 223, during the period of the Three Kingdoms (三国), than wood construction. Over the years, the tower was destroyed by fire more often, but also by changing rulers. Thus he went through different stages of appearance. Inside the tower you can find today wood panels and models that explain and show the history and changes over time.

Cui Hào (崔 颢), a celebrated poet of the Tang Dynasty (唐朝), visited the building in the early eighth century. His poem called " Huanghe Tower " made ​​the tower to the most famous buildings in southern China.

Facts

The current tower was completed in 1985, the design was acquired by images from the Qing Dynasty (清朝). The construction work lasted four years. He has five floors and is 51 meters high. Except for the installed lift the tower corresponds both inside and outside the historical model.
