Yeoman Credit Racing

Yeoman Credit Racing was the name of two motor sport teams that competed in Formula 1 from 1960 to 1962. Both teams wore one after this term; they had no connection to each other structurally or legally.

Yeoman Credit was a British financial services company that was founded in the early 1950s by brothers William, Paul and Fabian Samengo -Turner. The founders had a passion for motorsports. Beginning of the 1960s they supported two British racing teams that competed in succession under the name of the sponsor.

The Teams

BRP

1960 Samengo -Turner brothers supported the British Racing Partnership team, which took up this season under the name Yeoman Credit Racing. Emergency vehicles were three Cooper T51. Drivers were Chris Bristow and Harry Schell, who was replaced after his fatal accident in May 1960 Tony Brooks. The relationship between Yeoman Credit and BRP ended after just one year. BRP received for the 1961 season a new sponsor, which in turn led to a change of the team name: BRP joined in 1961 as UDT Laystall Raycing.

Reg Parnell Racing

1961 and 1962 the Samengo -Turner brothers financed the Reg Parnell Racing team was founded in 1959. 1961 renamed Parnell then as Yeoman Credit Racing, 1962 with respect to another sponsor as Bowmaker - Yeoman Credit. 1962 was the most successful motorsport year for Yeoman Credit: On the newly constructed John Surtees Lola Mk.4 reached in the team led by Reg Parnell two second places. Surtees drove a also a pole position.
