The South Korean island Yeongjongdo located in the Yellow Sea off the west coast of the city of Incheon of South Korea. She herself belongs to a exclave of Jung-gu ( 중구 ,中 区) district of the city of Incheon.

Geography

The island is 2.5 km from the island Wolmido ( 월미도 ) and 52 kilometers from the capital, Seoul. In the center of the island lies the mountain Baegusan. Among the most famous beaches of the island of Eulwangni - beach ( 을왕리 해수욕장 ) is formerly known under the name " Eolhang ".

Surnames

The island is also called " Tern Island " ( Jayeondo ) called, because of the very large number of swallows.

History

Through land reclamation between the islands Yongyu Sammok and Sinbul islands, the island was created for the construction of the airport Incheon.

Infrastructure

The island is connected by two bridges to the mainland. The Yeong-Jong Bridge (part of the Expressway 130) connects the island with the district Seo -gu ( 서구 ,西区) and the Incheon Bridge (part of the Expressway 110) connects the island with the Songdo International Business District.
