Yerri

Valle de Yerri (Basque Deierri ) is a municipality in the homonymous valley in the Autonomous Community of Navarre and is located about 38 kilometers southwest of Pamplona in Spain. The municipality is composed of 19 sites with own Ortvertretung ( Concejo ) and five districts without their own Ostsvertretung.

All locations are in the running in a north-south direction valley (Valle de Yerri ), which is drained by the river Ega, scattered. In the north, it starts where it reaches a height of over 1,000 meters in the foothills of the Sierra de Andia. In the south elevation of the valley runs in a level of approximately 500 meters. Here the landscape is dominated by olive groves, vineyards and wheat fields.

History

The first written mention of Yerri goes back to 1291. In the 18th century was the Valle de Yerri of five administrative units called Cendeas: Azcona, Abárzuza Murugarren, Arizaleta and Erbarren. In 1851 the valley, except Abárzuza together, under one administration. The place Lezáun was spun off in 1951 and received its own local government.

The members of the community places without their own representation are Andía (Basque Andia ), Venta de Urbasa ( Basque Urbasako Benta ), Azcona (Basque Aizkoa ) Casetas de Ciriza (Basque Ziritzako etxeak ) and Muru. The municipal administration and the office of the Mayor are located in the village of Arizala.
