Yesaul

Jessaul (Russian Есаул, pronounced Jess -a -ul, from the Turkic word yasaul - the manager ) called a rank among the Cossacks. The rank was introduced in 1576 and corresponded from 1798 to 1800 at the rank of Captain of Cavalry or a captain of infantry. In the 19th century, the rank of Jessaul was phased out.
