Yeti Airlines Flight 103

Yeti Airlines Flight 103 was carried out with a De Havilland Canada DHC- 6 Twin Otter 9N - AFE with the registration. The plane crashed on 8 October 2008 on final approach from the Tenzing - Hillary Airport in Lukla in eastern Nepal. The flight had taken off from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

Expiration

The airport is the main gateway to the Mount Everest region in Nepal and is known for its aeronautical challenging situation. His landing and take- off runway is only 527 meters long and 20 meters wide and has a strong slope. Due to bad weather, the pilots had difficulties to identify the runway. In yet carried out landing attempt, the aircraft flew too low and added to the path and crashed into the side of the mountain just before the runway.

Passengers

A total of 18 people died in the accident, only one of the Nepalese pilots survived with serious injuries. Twelve of the victims were German tourists trekking, four came from Nepal and two from Switzerland.
