The Eva- Liv Island (Russian Остров Ева - Лив, Ostrow Jewa - Liw ) is an uninhabited island of belonging to Russia Arctic Franz Josef country.

It is the largest of a group of islands in the northeast of the archipelago, including the Freeden Island and Adelaide Island belong. In Russian, they are called White country ( Белая Земля ), a designation which goes back to Fridtjof Nansen, who here in 1895 for the first time vorfand dry land after his foray into the North Pole and it is so named because of its strong glaciation (Norwegian Hvidtenland ).

The Eva- Liv Island has an area of 288 km ² and a length of 28 km. She is almost completely covered by two ice caps. Nansen assumed it would be two separate islands, which he named after his wife Eva and their daughter Liv. Later it was believed to have to do it with only one island, which led to the current name. Due to the melting of the ice caps, a peninsula in the north now as a separate island emerged ( Mesjazew Island, Остров Месяцева ). It is quite possible that still hide an Eve and a Liv - island under the ice caps.
