Øygarden

Øygarden is a commune in the Norwegian province (county ) Hordaland. It lies on the North Sea and is surrounded by fjords. To the north is the municipality Fedje, in the east, the municipalities Radøy, Meland and Askøy and to the south the municipality Fjell. The municipality Øygarden consists of approximately 450 islands, islets and skerries. Administrative center is the site Tjeldstø.

History

The municipality was created in 1964 from the previous municipality Hjelme and parts of Herdla herad.
