History

The area of present-day Yibin can be detected more than 2000 years ago as a circle called Bodao (僰 道 县). It is not entirely clear whether the group was established already during the Qin or only during the Western Han Dynasty, but it is certain that in the years of Emperor Han Wudi Jianyuan 6, ie 135 BC, to the prefecture he qianwei (犍为 郡) belonged. In the year of the Emperor Liang Wudi Datong 10, ie 544 AD to the present territory of the Yibin County Rongzhou was founded (戎 州). At the time of the Northern Zhou came even added the circle Wàijiāng (外 江 县), which during the Sui Dynasty, its historical name Bodao received back. In the Northern Song Zhenghe 4, ie 1114 Rongzhou in Xuzhou (叙 州) and the subordinate to him Bodao county in Yibin (宜宾 县) has been renamed. By the end of the Qing Dynasty was the territory of the present town of Yibin, with the exception of the circles Jiang'an and Pingshan, Xuzhou.

This was also in the early years of the Republic ( from 1912) so until after several administrative reforms in June 1935, the Sichuan Province in 18 administrative districts (行政 督察 区) was divided and Yibin, the sixth of which was. Only the present district Pingshan was then still the fifth county. After the liberation, which took place only on 11 December 1949,, Yibin was placed under the administrative area south Sichuan in January 1950. In March 1957, the District Pingshan, who had belonged to the district of Leshan, Yibin was assumed. In July 1960, the entire district was Luzhou (宜宾 专区) dissolved in the District of Yibin, which now consisted of two independent cities and 16 counties. In April 1978, the district was in the administrative district of Yibin Yibin (宜宾 地区) converted while the circle Long Chang, who had heard before 1960 to Luzhou, dissolved and placed under the administrative district of Neijiang. Still In March 1983, the District Fushun, also formerly part Luzhous are submitted to the City of Zigong. At the same time the county-level city Luzhou was elevated to the rank of a prefecture-level city and thus separated from the administrative district of Yibin. From June 1983 to June 1985 all the remaining circles Luzhous were then again separated from Yibin and the new Luzhou City slammed. What remained was exactly the administrative area of present-day Yibin. On 5 October 1996, the State Council of the People's Republic of China to resolve the administrative district of Yibin and the independent city of Yibin decided on the administrative territory of the former administrative district of the new prefecture-level city of Yibin and to build on the administrative territory of the former independent city urban district Cuiping.
