Yim Guechse

Guechse Yim ( born November 20, 1946 in Phnom Penh) is a living in Germany Cambodian poet and writer.

Life and work

Guechse Yim was in 1971 in East Germany and graduated from the Karl Marx University in Leipzig a PhD at the Department of Linguistics. In 1976 he moved to West Berlin and studied at the University of Berlin until 1981 librarianship.

Guechse Yim writes in Khmer. Few of his poems have been translated into the German language. In his works he deals with the ( physical ) love, social problems and political abuses in Cambodia, where he often refers to the Khmer tradition reference. In 1970 he published the novel " Ramayana in the dreams ", was published in 1982 the book of poems " A Decade of Dreams". In 1986 the socially critical novel " Farewell, Rose of Phnom Penh ". In 1987, the Seals " life against the stream " were relocated and "creep along the life." 1988 followed by the publication of " Kolab, the Cambodian ", was published in 1990 " Shared Life".
