Yiquan

Yiquan (Chinese意拳, Pinyin Yiquan, W.-G. I Ch'uan, also Dachengchuan ) is a Chinese internal martial art (内 家 拳Chinese, Pinyin Neijiaquan, short neijia ), the Wang Xiangzhai ( 1885-1963, was also known under the name developed Nibao, Zhenghe, Yuseng ). Due to its health benefits Yiquan can also be practiced for health care and thus also has an important role as Qigong system.

History

Wang Xiangzhai was a reformer of the traditional Chinese martial arts which he criticized increasingly radical. He had learned by Guo Yunshen Xingyiquan and also learned the method of Zhanzhuang, which forms the basis of the later Yiquan. Wang was against the practice of forms and emphasized instead the principles of martial arts, especially the use of yi, the imagination. Yiquan means " spirit boxes ". His students later suggested the name Dachengchuan ago, about "fighting art of the great perfection ," he came later but again as indicating Yiquan back, as he feels that the emphasis on the Yi of central importance. Yiquan is very straightforward and relies on the intuitive implementation of the principles practiced in the combat situation rather than practiced standardized techniques.
