Yisrael Katz (politician born 1955)

Israel Katz ( Hebrew: ישראל כץ, Jisra'el Katz, born September 21, 1955 in Ashkelon ) is an Israeli politician, currently Member of the Knesset for Likud and Israel's Minister of Transport.

Katz was born in Ashkelon, and later earned a bachelor's degree and then a master's degree at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Katz is since 1996 a member of the Knesset and was from 2003 to 2006 Israel Agriculture Minister. After the 2009 elections, he was Transport Minister in the cabinet of Benjamin Netanyahu.
