Yitzhak Ben-Aharon

Yitzhak Ben Aharon (Hebrew יצחק בן אהרון, born July 17, 1906 in the province of Bukovina, Austria - Hungary, † 19 May, 2006 Israel) was an Israeli politician and a former minister.

Life

He attended high school in Cernăuţi and studied at the Advanced School for Political Science in Berlin. He was head of Hashomer Hatzair in Romania and in 1928 he emigrated to Palestine, where he lived in Kibbutz Givat Chaim (Hebrew גִּבְעַת חַיִּים, ) in Hadera. Ben Aharon came during the Second World War in 1941 as a member of the British army in German captivity. Most recently, he was imprisoned until his release on 12 April 1945 by units of the 30th Infantry Division in Oflag 79 in Brunswick. After 1952 he was a citizen of Givat Haim, Meuhad (Hebrew ( גבעת חיים ( מאוחד ).

Politician

From the 1st to the 8th Cabinet Knesset. From 1949 to 1954 he was member of the Knesset Mapam from 1954 to 1965 he was member of the Knesset Ahdut Haavoda 1965 to 1968 he was a Member of the Knesset the HaMa'arach from 1968 to 1969 he was Member of the Knesset the Avodah, from 1969 to 1977 he was a member of the Knesset the HaMa'arach.

Ben- Aharon was December 17, 1959 to May 28, 1962 Israeli Transport Minister, as in the 4th and 5th parliamentary term, the 9th and 10th Cabinet.

Publicist

He was the author of several books and articles. His autobiography was published in 1947 under the title lists, gentile! The Story of a Life at Staples Press Ltd.. in London.
