Ylivieska

Ylivieska [ yliviɛskɑ ] is a small town in north-western Finland. It is located around 130 km south of the city of Oulu in Northern Ostrobothnia landscape.

History

Ylivieska is an independent municipality since 1867. Its growth owed ​​the place after 1886 the construction of the railway from Helsinki to Rovaniemi, the another important traffic route in the region crosses at this point, the river Kalajoki. 1971 was granted the city rights Ylivieska.
