Yo! MTV Raps

Yo! MTV Raps was a hip-hop show of the music channel MTV, which was produced from August 1988 to August 1995. The moderator was broadcast on weekdays from Doctor Dré and Ed Lover and the weekend of graffiti artists Fab 5 Freddy.

Ted Demme and Peter Dougherty developed the concept of the program on the basis of 1987 produced at MTV Europe similar mission. The set underwent various changes and was inspired in part of a street scene in order to emphasize the urban character of the shipment. Besides sprayed brick walls there was a basketball hoop and a park bench, on which the guests sat. The DJ booth was mounted on two oil drums. Live performances and freestyles were an integral part of the broadcast. These interviews were conducted and showed music videos that dominated the weekend format. There were also outside broadcast applications. The program was taken over by MTV Europe and MTV Asia and broadcast in the original language without subtitles.

After 1995, the original format was discontinued and the show under the name Yo! to a pure music video show, which was led by different moderators.
