Yoichi Doi

Yōichi Doi (Japanese土肥 洋 一Doi Yōichi; born July 25, 1973 in Kumamoto ) is a Japanese football goalkeeper.

Career

About the college teams of Jonan and Otsu Cities Doi came 1995 on the Japanese first division side Kashiwa Reysol, where he immediately the number one goal was in the first two years. In the following three years, however, he lost that position and came to less and less inserts. As Reysol won the 1999 League Cup, he just sat on the bench and in the league he was only three inserts.

So he moved in 2000 to the then Erstligaaufsteiger FC Tokyo, where he was the undisputed number one and stayed. There, in 2004 was his most successful year. Not only that Tokyo with the league cup won the first national title, he was chosen as the best goalkeeper in the best eleven in the league.

As early as 2003, when FC Tokyo reached its best ever league placing, people became aware in the Japanese national team on Yoichi Doi. At the Confederations Cup, he was already established as a substitute goalkeeper, in February 2004 he got his first deployment in the national jersey. At the Confederations Cup in 2005 and the Football World Cup in 2006 he went to Germany, but came as number three behind the two internationally experienced colleagues Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi and Seigo Narazaki not used. In the young Japanese World Cup team, he was the oldest player at age 32.
