Yokosuka MXY-9

The Yokosuka MXY -9 Shuka (秋 火- Japanese for autumn fire) was a planned Japanese trainer aircraft for future pilots of the Mitsubishi J8M Shusui or Ki -200 ( built under license copy of the German Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet ) and has been from its unpowered gliders version Yokosuka MXY -8 Akigusa developed. The term " MXY -9" was awarded by the Imperial Japanese Navy for this aircraft, while the air forces of the Imperial Japanese Army, the term " Ku -13" forgave.

History

The Mitsubishi J8M Shusui should have a built in Japan under license copy of the German rocket-powered interceptor Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet, but due to problems in the transportation of documents and materials from the German Reich at the end of the Second World War (some so laden submarines were traveling sunk or were otherwise not in Japan ) but had to be redesigned a large portion of the aircraft based on less documentation. The MXY 8 built parallel to J8M to test the design and to be able to train already during development of the J8M pilots.

The MXY -9 was developed from the non-driven sailors version Yokosuka MXY -8 Akigusa and should strategically important materials to save also built entirely of wood, but in contrast to this are driven by a simple thermaljet engine type Tsu -11.
