Yom Ha'atzmaut

On the 5th Iyar in the Jewish calendar celebrates its Independence Day Israel, the Yom haAtzma'ut (Hebrew: יום העצמאות, Independence Day ).

The Israeli Declaration of Independence took place on May 14, 1948 or 5 Iyar 5708; the Yom haAtzma'ut was introduced the following year in 1949 as a reminder of the proclamation of the Jewish state by David Ben Gurion.
