Yomiuri Prize
The Yomiuri Prize for Literature (Japanese読 売 文学 赏, Yomiuri bungaku - shō ) is a Japanese literary prize, which is awarded by the Yomiuri Newspaper since 1949. The price was intended to assist after the defeat in the Second World War a new boom of Japanese literature. It is awarded annually in the following six categories:
The award recognizes works that have appeared within one year prior to the ceremony. The winners will be determined by a selection committee and get next to a rubbing stone as a symbolic award a prize of two million yen ( € 14,000, as of April 7, 2014 ).
