Yonghe Temple

The Yonghe Temple ( also: Lama Temple ) in Beijing, actually the palace of peace and harmony, is the former residence of Prince Yinzhen, which was built in 1744 renovated by Emperor Qianlong in honor of his father in a Lamaist temple.

Importance

He is one of the largest Lamaist temple outside Tibet and is considered the best restored temple of Beijing. The aligned in north-south direction of the facility consists of an ornamental garden, several courtyards and various buildings. At its peak, the Hall of Infinite Happiness ( Wanfuge万福 阁), in which a 18 meters high, carved from a single sandalwood statue of Maitreya Buddha stands. The root of the source tree is 26 m high, 8 m put them in depth. The sum of the height is 8 ( the lucky number in China). This statue donated to the 7th Dalai Lama Emperor Qianlong.
