Yosemite Falls

Yosemite Falls, Yosemite National Park

The Yosemite Falls are among the highest and most famous waterfalls in the world. They are located in Yosemite National Park in California, USA.

With an overall height of 739 m located in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada, three-piece Yosemite Falls are often seen as the highest waterfalls in North America, although there are some other cases that are higher, but much less or only temporarily lead at all water (sa).

The waters of Yosemite Creek falls first to the Upper Falls 435 m on a steep rock face down. Then follows a series of small waterfalls and rapids that are hard to see from a distance. These cascades (Middle Cascades ) have a total drop of 206 m. Then follow the 98 m high Lower Falls before the water flows in the valley in the Merced River.

The Lower Falls are easily accessible on the valley floor and well attended accordingly. A 5.5 km long, steep and strenuous trail leads from there to the top of the waterfall. The Upper Falls also lead several trails from the north, starting from the Tioga Road.

In years with little snowfall flows in late summer little or no water on the Yosemite Falls.
