Youcat

Youcat called the 2011 release official Youth Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church. The written in question-answer form work is used worldwide in the Catholic youth work use and is published in 30 languages, including Arabic, Chinese and Latin. The Youcat based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church (1992 ) and the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church ( 2005). The German edition has 304 pages and consists of four sections with 527 questions and answers.

Formation

The Youcat created since 2006 under the direction of the Vienna Cardinal Christoph Schönborn by German -speaking priests, theologians and religious educators as well as the participation of over 60 young people who contributed their questions, paid attention to the clarity of the text and photos featured are available.

The German edition was published on 25 March 2011 in Munich Pattloch publisher.

Construction and design

Youth Catechism of content divided into four sections: faith, sacraments, Christian life and prayer. It follows as in the division of the Compendium of the Catechism and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

The text is supplemented by quotations from the Bible, saints and well-known authors as well as explanations and references. The additions are placed in the margins and should be used to understand the statements of faith. Illustrates the Youcat is through works of Christian iconography, photographs and stick figures that are to comment on the text and can be viewed in the form of a flipbook. The logo of Youcat consists of several small crosses, which are arranged in the form of a "Y".

The Youcat first appeared in fourteen languages ​​: English, French, Danish, Italian, Croatian, Dutch, Polish, Spanish, Slovak, Slovenian, Armenian, Ukrainian, Russian, Indonesian. Meanwhile, other issues in Malayalam, Korean, and Arabic have been published. Chinese and Japanese editions are in preparation. Overall, the youth catechism should appear by the end of 2012 in 30 languages. Also, a translation of the Youcat in the Latin language is planned.
