Young Pirate

Ung Pirat (Swedish; " Young Pirate" ) is the youth organization of the Swedish Piratpartiet and the largest political youth organization in Sweden. The association was founded in December 2006 and works closely with the Pirate Party. More than half of the members of the Swedish Pirate Party is also a member of Ung Pirat. This is mainly because that young members of the Pirate Party are automatically members of the youth organization. Membership of Ung Pirat is free of charge.

The main topics of the boys pirates are the free knowledge, sharing of cultural goods as well as a protected privacy. The Association participates in further activities of the Pirate Party and its organization.

Beginning April 17, 2009 was Ung Pirat, by its own account, before the youth wing of the Moderate samlingspartiet the largest political youth organization in Sweden. In the following years, however, there was a continuous decline in membership, so that Ung Pirat October 2011 is still only the sixth largest political youth organization in Sweden. 2013, the membership grew again, so that the Ung Pirat were second-largest youth organization in Sweden in August 2013.
