Young Tom Edison

The young Edison is an American feature film from the year 1940. Mickey Rooney plays the young genius Thomas Alva Edison, whose inventions later went around the world and the 20th century revolutionized.

Action

Port Huron, Michigan, in the early 1860s. Here the family of Thomas Alva Edison lives. Tom is a wild young boy who feels misunderstood by many. Only his mother and his sister Nancy Tannie have understanding for him. Particularly problematic is his relationship with his teacher Lavina Howard. After he detonated a stink bomb in the school building, he is expelled from school. His father Sam is angry at him, but his mother defended him and continue but informed him now itself as Tom the life of the little son of Mr. McCarney saves, he gains a friend. McCarney gives him work. But even with this work, he is unlucky because it sets a train and a car on fire. He now brings the entire community of Port Huron on against him. He thinks to leave the city forever, is this idea but when his mother became seriously ill. For operation on the mother, the treating physician needs stronger light. Tom breaks into a store and steals a mirror that intensifies the light. The stronger light rescues his mother actually lives; his theft is celebrated as heroic. The heart of the community, he finally wins when he is prevented by his inventiveness, a serious train accident. Now he has also won the support of his father, who announces his wife with pride that he would in future only be referred to as the father of the famous Thomas Alva Edison.
